Spot the bunny knew how to communicate to his Mum. He would sit by his bowl when it was time to eat. If he needed water, he would then sit by his water dish to remind Mum to fill his bowl.
Every day, Dina, Spot’s Mum, would put clean fresh hay in all the litter pans for all the bunnies. One day, Dina forgot to put hay in Lady Doehr’s box.
So, Spot jumped in her hutch and caught his Mum’s attention.
“Oh, sorry Spot,” said Dina. “I almost forgot.” Thank you for reminding me.”
Later that day, Dina sat and addressed Holiday cards. Spot hopped over to her side.
Spot gestured as if to say, “What are you doing, Mum?”
“I’m sending cards for the holidays to all our friends.” Then Dina remembered that Spot wanted to send some cards also. “Oh, Spot,” she said. “I forgot you want to send some cards, too.”
So, Spot and his Mum addressed a Holiday card to Dr. Rose, the bunnies’ veterinarian. It was signed, Spot, Doehr, Cookies, T-Bird, Princess, Mercedes, Jaguar, Stag, and Porsche.
Next, Mum carefully wrapped all the presents. Lady Doehr lay there as Spot the bunny gently licked her ears.
“Spot, I should have a nice present, too. Something shining and pretty to give me some sass,” said Lady Doehr.
Spot hopped over to Dina. “Will you help me Mum?” Spot’s little nose seemed to beckon.
“You need to ask Santa, Spot.” Then Dina began to think of gifts to get for Lady Doehr from Spot.
Dina saw carriages, blankets, bowls and shiny rhinestone necklaces. And, Spot and his Mum picked out the prettiest rhinestone necklace they could find to give to Lady Doehr.
That night, around 11:15 pm, Spot got so excited he could not control it. He had to tell his Mum what he had just heard.
“Santa’s on his way,” exclaimed Spot. “He was putting on his boots and he was calling the Reindeer.”
Rudolph’s nose was warming, and who better to know what was happening in the North Pole than an Angora Bunny.
Spot darted over to Mum’s black, shiny boots. Santa wore black shiny boots, also. “Mummy, Mummy, he’s getting on his boots,” exclaimed Spot. “He’s going to be here!”
At that moment, Dina dashed into the kitchen for she knew a great guest was coming to the home. There was butter and nuts for cookies.
At 12:00 midnight, Dina was in the kitchen removing cookies from the tray. There was a voice in her ear.
“What? Speaken si Deutch? Who asked that?”
Why, it’s Kris Kringle, Old St. Nick himself.
Spot knew this is going to be best Christmas ever.
